About Nina

Content plays an essential role in shaping the user experience. That’s why every design team should have a language specialist.

I’m a UX researcher with a PhD in applied linguistics and more than 6 years of experience in qualitative and mixed methods research. My background in applied linguistics, education, and journalism helps me find a common language with users who are culturally and linguistically diverse and gives me unique insight into their experiences. I draw insights from my research to inform decisions about UX design, content design, UX writing, and information architecture.

Through my work as an educator in K-12 and higher education, I have seen the value of inclusive design for empowering everyone in the room. Now, as a UX researcher, I bring a commitment to inclusive, user-centered design to every project and every interaction with users and stakeholders.

I also work with a curriculum design team as part of the Crow project, a collaboration involving researchers at the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and Purdue University. Our team uses quantitative and qualitative text analysis to design evidence-based instructional materials for undergraduate writing courses. To learn more, read my case study of an instructional design project.
